Community participation for sustainable development

Pwani-DPA Mission is to provide strategic contribution towards support and empowerment of the needy, underprivileged and vulnerable segments of the Tanzanian population such as Pwani region, in addressing the socio-economic [health, education and environmental] challenges and needs facing them.

With overall goal for support and empower the needy, underprivileged and vulnerable communities to address and mitigate the Socio-economic, health, education and environmental problems afflicting them in order to improve their conditions of living.

Our specific objectives are;-
1.    Promote livelihood and life management skills among the community, youths and women in particular through plausible facilitation techniques such as stepping stones, reflect and life skills
2.    Solicit community support in addressing and advocating for children/youth and women’s rights
3.    Address HIV/AIDS, STD issues though information, education and communication for behavioral change development and empower the most vulnerable groups particularly women, youths, the down trodden and those infected and affected with HIV/AIDS in order to take appropriate steps to protect themselves and others from infection or for those already zero convert to avoid repeated exposure
4.    Enhance and facilitate poverty eradication strategies to the underprivileged and the down trodden
5.    Enhance and promote poor households in accessing socio-economic facilities such as education, health and water
6.    Enhance and develop a closer relationship between all agencies involved in HIV/AIDS prevention, impact mitigation, counseling, poverty alleviation, environmental conservation through creation of IGAs and environmental conservation programmes
7.    Enhance, support and promote innovative education and communication techniques such as stepping stones, reflect and life skills education through participatory research on HIV/AIDS, STIs environmental conservation and poverty alleviation for increased awareness and development
8.    Establishing formal and informal education institutions for quality education particularly for those who miss it
9.    Establishing a Revolving Fund that will provide very minimal interest loans to youth and women groups to help them start and run income generating projects such as poultry keeping dairy cattle keeping, petty business, gardening, handcrafts etc.
10. Initiate, enhance, promote, facilitate and support the empowerment of underprivileged and the down trodden through increased social, economic and educational advancement in order to enable them attain better quality life
11. Promote programs in the area of gender development, youth and women economic empowerment and micro enterprises
12. Support National and Regional efforts in the struggle against the spread of HIV/AIDS, environmental degradation and poverty
13. Provide information, education and counseling services on gender, sexual and reproductive health to youth, women and community in general
